After twenty-one years, Vincenzo Bugno is stepping down from his role as head of the World Cinema Fund (WCF) at the Berlinale to focus on his work as Artistic Director of the Bolzano Film Festival Bozen and as curator of TorinoFilmLab FeatureLab.
Bugno has been involved with the Berlinale since 2004. He played a key role in the establishment of the WCF, which has significantly influenced the global film landscape by promoting greater inclusivity and cultural balance. The WCF has supported film production in often overlooked regions and encouraged partnerships with German and European producers. Bugno also served as the Berlinale’s delegate for Italy from 2005 to 2019 and for the Maghreb and Mashreq regions from 2007 to 2018, in addition to being a member of the selection committee from 2014 to 2019.
His successor will be chosen through an open call for applications.
