Filming of Ridley Scott’s new movie, The Dog Stars, reaches the Abruzzo region of L’Aquila. The Italian base camp for the film’s production is located at Cinecittà, where some scenes will be shot.
The Municipality of L’Aquila has ordered a traffic and parking ban with towing enforced for Monday, June 9, in the square in front of the Gran Sasso cable car station at Campo Imperatore, to allow for film shooting.
The request was submitted by Panorama Film Srl, the executive production company involved in the making of the film. In recent days, the crew has shot scenes in the Marsica area, particularly in Avezzano and Ovindoli.
As for Campo Imperatore, it is understood that the filming will consist of aerial shots, likely a flyover, which means there will be no restrictions for hikers. Additional night shoots are scheduled to take place at the Aeroporto dei Parchi in the following days.
Disney and 20th Century Studios have announced that The Dog Stars will be released in March 2026. The cast includes Jacob Elordi in the lead role alongside Josh Brolin, Guy Pearce, and Margaret Qualley. The screenplay is by Mark L. Smith, known for The Revenant and Twisters. Adapted from Peter Heller’s novel and set during a pandemic, the story centers on a former pilot mourning his wife’s death, who picks up a mysterious radio transmission that alters the course of his life.
The producer is backing a new biopic project focused on the life of the 47th President of the United States, following Ali Abbasi's 'The Apprentice'
