Director Danny Boyle to lead masterclass at Casa del Cinema in Rome

On June 12, the Oscar winner will revisit his career with the audience and present an exclusive preview of the first footage of his new film '28 Years Later'

On Thursday, June 12 at 12:00 PM, Danny Boyle will hold a masterclass at Casa del Cinema, organized by Fondazione Cinema per Roma and Sony Pictures, and introduced by Paola Malanga, Artistic Director of the Foundation and the Rome Film Fest.

The British filmmaker will revisit his extraordinary career with the audience, talking about films like Slumdog Millionaire, which won eight Academy Awards including Best Picture and Best Director, as well as other acclaimed global successes such as Trainspotting, The Beach, 127 Hours, and Yesterday.

The masterclass will be preceded by an exclusive preview of the first 28 minutes of his new film, 28 Years Later, written by Alex Garland (Ex Machina, Civil War, Warfare) and produced by Cillian Murphy. The film brings to the big screen a terrifying new chapter in the saga that began with 28 Days Later in 2002 and continued with 28 Weeks Later in 2007. Starring Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jack O’Connell, Alfie Williams, and Ralph Fiennes, 28 Years Later is produced by Sony Pictures and will be released in Italian cinemas on Wednesday, June 18, distributed by Eagle Pictures.

In 28 Years Later, almost three decades have passed since the Rage virus escaped from a biological weapons laboratory. In the aftermath, under harsh and enforced quarantine, a few have managed to endure alongside the infected. One group of survivors has taken refuge on a remote island, linked to the mainland by a heavily guarded causeway. But when one of them ventures inland on a mission, they uncover hidden truths, wonders and horrors, which involve not only the infected, but the survivors themselves.

Admission to the masterclass is free, upon collection of a coupon which will be distributed on Thursday, June 12 starting at 11:30 AM at the Casa del Cinema box office.
