HBO Max Confirms Cast for ‘Harry Potter’ Series

Dominic McLaughlin stars as Harry Potter, with Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout portraying Ron Weasley. The series is penned by Francesca Gardiner, who also acts as an executive producer alongside J.K. Rowling, the original author of the novels

The HBO Max Harry Potter series is highly anticipated, and now the lead roles have officially been cast: Dominic McLaughlin will play Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton takes on the role of Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout will portray Ron Weasley.

Showrunner and executive producer Francesca Gardiner and director/executive producer Mark Mylod said: “After an extraordinary search led by casting directors Lucy Bevan and Emily Brockmann, we are delighted to announce we have found our Harry, Hermione, and Ron. The talent of these three unique actors is wonderful to behold, and we cannot wait for the world to witness their magic together onscreen. We would like to thank all the tens of thousands of children who auditioned. It’s been a real pleasure to discover the plethora of young talent out there.”

The series will be a faithful adaptation of the beloved book saga by author J.K. Rowling, who also serves as an executive producer. Each season will bring the world of Harry Potter to a new generation of viewers, as well as longtime fans, and will be available exclusively on HBO Max in all regions where the platform is present—including upcoming markets like Germany, Italy, and the United Kingdom. The original films will remain available for viewing worldwide.
