Oscar-winning director Francis Ford Coppola, known for masterpieces such as The Godfather, Apocalypse Now, and The Outsiders, will be the guest of honor at a special evening at the Supercinema in Soverato (CZ) on Monday, July 14.
The event, a lead-up to the official opening of the Magna Graecia Film Festival, founded by brothers Alessandro and Gianvito Casadonte, will begin at 5:30 p.m. and will feature an interactive conversation titled “How To Change Our Future” with the legendary filmmaker. On this occasion, Coppola will also receive the Colonna d’Oro award and present a screening of his latest film, Megalopolis.
This special evening, made possible through the work of Silvia Bizio, curator of the festival’s international debut features section, offers fans a rare chance to experience the film, also currently unavailable on any streaming platform, exactly as Coppola envisioned it: “This is how Megalopolis was meant to be seen: in a large theater, with an audience, followed by deep and interactive discussions about the future”.
The Magna Graecia Film Festival (MGFF), founded and directed by Gianvito Casadonte and now in its 22nd edition, will take place from July 26 to August 2, featuring a rich lineup of events and film screenings. The competitions will include sections dedicated to Italian debut films and documentaries, curated by Antonio Capellupo, and international debut features curated by Bizio, who also leads the festival’s international talent conversations.
A new addition this year is a section curated by Jacopo Curcio and Luca Capacchione, presenting a selection of outstanding debut short films, aimed at further enhancing the festival’s mission to promote and support emerging talent.
Amongst the other important guests present at the 29th edition of the gathering are the master of Italian animational Enzo D’Alò and the filmmakers Saverio Costanzo and Ameer Fakher Eldin
