Ferzan Özpetek’s ‘Diamonds’ will open the Italian Film Festival in Singapore

The event (June 7-22) will celebrate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries


The Italian Film Festival returns to Singapore with a dynamic and diverse program, offering audiences a unique opportunity to experience the richness of contemporary Italian cinema. Organized by the Embassy of Italy in Singapore in collaboration with The Projector and the Singapore Film Society, this year’s edition carries special significance as it marks the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Italy and Singapore.

The event will take place from June 7 to 22, 2025, at The Projector, a local independent cinema located at Cineleisure. The lineup includes an exceptional range of films, from both acclaimed directors and emerging voices, spanning fiction, documentary, animation, and artistic cinema.

The festival will open with Diamonds by Turkish-Italian diretor Ferzan Özpetek. The closing film will be Arsa, an experimental audiovisual work by the artist duo Masbedo, whose practice includes video, installations, cinema, performance, experimental theatre, and sound design. Their work has been featured at major festivals such as Locarno, Venice, and Rotterdam.
