Chiara Sbarigia Steps Down as President of Cinecittà

The President of Cinecittà, Chiara Sbarigia, has informed the company's Board of Directors and the Minister of Culture, Alessandro Giuli, of her decision to resign

President Sbarigia stated, “Having successfully concluded the Italian Global Series Festival, which just took place in Rimini and Riccione, and in consideration of the ever-increasing commitments involved in the role of President of the Audiovisual Producers Association during this complex historical moment of great transformations, I have decided to focus my efforts on the Presidency of APA and to run for the Presidency of the Maximo Foundation, which we are in the process of establishing with AGIS and which will lead the Italian Global Series Festival, with the intent of representing the audiovisual sector, just as the David di Donatello Awards represent Cinema. I therefore find myself unable to continue in the position of President of Cinecittà and must, therefore, submit my irrevocable resignation. In doing so, I sincerely wish to thank Ministers Franceschini, Giorgetti, Sangiuliano, Giuli, and Franco, who placed their trust in me, and especially Undersecretary Lucia Borgonzoni. I also thank the Board of Directors and the entire staff of Cinecittà and Archivio Luce, with whom I have effectively collaborated for four years, organizing and curating retrospectives, exhibitions, and conferences of which I am very proud. From today, I will thus dedicate all my energy to the world of Italian audiovisuals, so that it may increasingly be a protagonist in Italy and worldwide.”

The Minister of Culture, Alessandro Giuli, has thanked President Chiara Sbarigia for the excellent work done so far and extended his best wishes for her upcoming projects in support of Italian cinema, to which “we are all committed.”
